Fresh Ground Coffee
My husband and my friends drink coffee, I do not. When I make coffee For them I prefer to go the extra step of grinding the beans at home rather than buying pre-ground coffee. Why? The smell of freshly ground coffee is terrific, and my coffee drinking friends and family swear it is the best cup they have ever had. Be forewarned, the grinder makes a terrific racket! We have an old reliable Cuisinart Bar Coffee Grinder. If you grind at the store you can pick settings from fine to coarse - but with this simple device, every batch is hand crafted.

Nordic Ware Rolled Omelette Pan
Today I will try out this unusual single-purpose pan. It is designed to produce omelettes in such a manner that a frenchman will wistfully recall his mother's cooking. I cook a lot of eggs in every possible configuration, so I am eager to put this to the test. I'll update the post shortly with my verdict on the pan.

Stonewall Kitchen Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix
Dad brought back this pancake mix directly from the manufacturer in Maine. Pancakes made from scratch are a Saturday morning staple, but since the kids had the day off today they got a special treat. Very good.
Calphalon Unison Slide Nonstick Egg Poacher vs. Old Calphalon Poacher
Tested this basket-version of Calphalon's egg poacher on my husband this morning. I like the fact that the eggs are in the water compared to the earlier steamer setup. Still both versions are good, and the eggs came out just right. The new setup has a sauté pan, the earlier a skillet.
